Further expanding the ambit of Ghar-Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission of Punjab Government by providing better livelihood to the unemployed youths, Jalandhar Central MLA Rajinder Beri and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Saturday handed over allotment letters for 97 Fair Price Shops (ration depots) to the youths.
Participating in the virtual launch of the program by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in Mohali, Jalandhar Central MLA Rajinder Beri and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the allottees have been appointed by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department in month-long exercise following the generation of 124 vacancies of ration depots in urban areas of the district.
They said that the 184 youths had applied for these vacancies generated based on the increase in the size of the population in a particular area. They said that after scrutiny of documents, 160 youths were called for the interview out of which 142 turned up and today, 97 were given allotment letters for running ration depot.
Congratulating the allottees, they exhorted them to ensure that every poor get the ration from their depots which will strengthen the public distribution system at the grassroots. They appealed them to ensure effective, transparent distribution of food grains to all eligible beneficiaries.

MLA and Deputy Commissioner said that it was a historic day for them as they were going to start a new inning in their lives. They said that it was just the beginning of the marvelous success story which all of them were going to script in the future by becoming an active partner in making the public distribution system more successful.
They said that the Ghar-Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission has already been acting as a catalyst to transform the destiny of the youth and providing jobs to unemployed youths. They said that the district administration has been holding job fairs/placement camps regularly.
