PM visits J&K; will intoduce multiple development projects

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day long visit to Jammu and Kashmir to lay foundation stones of two new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric project in Kishtwar.  

In Srinagar, Prime Minister is also likely to hold an interaction with the newly elected Sarpanches, announced a PMO announcement. He would also lay foundation stones for several development projects in the state including the University of Ladakh. The the first-ever university in the Ladakh region would be launched by the PM. Established under the University of Ladakh Act 2018, it will be a cluster University comprising of degree colleges of Leh, Kargil, Nubra, Zanskar, Drass and Khaltsi. The university will have its administrative offices at Leh and Kargil.

Mr Modi would also lay the foundation stones of two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur and Awantipora. He would also lay the foundation stone of northern regional centre campus of Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Jammu, a PMO release said.

He would unveil plaques via video-conference to lay foundation stones of 54 new model degree colleges, 11 professional colleges and one women's university in the country. Facilities for launch of Rural BPO, Bandipora will be also inaugurated. This will enhance employment opportunities for the youth in Bandipora and neighbouring districts. 

In view of Prime Minister's visit, a  multi-tier security arrangement has been put in place across Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister last visited Jammu, Srinagar and Leh on 19 May 2018
