As per UAE’s National Advisor Bureau Limited, an underwater rail link between Dubai and Mumbai has been proposed which could reduce travel time to just two hours. As per Moneycontrol, National Advisor Bureau Limited proposed the plan a few years back but since then there have been no major updates on its approval or development.

A YouTube account, claiming to represent the National Advisor Bureau Limited, also shared a video showing how the rail link will look once constructed. However, due to its complex engineering requirements, the project is expected to demand an investment of billions of dollars.

Mumbai Underwater Train to Dubai

While India and Dubai are already connected via air, it is a well-known fact that the majority of travellers in India still opt for railways as it is pocket friendly. As per reports, the Mumbai-Dubai Underwater Train is envisioned as an alternative to air travel, which will carry both passengers and cargo between both cities.

Furthermore, if passed it could facilitate the movement of goods, including crude oil, between India and the UAE. This may also enhance the bilateral trade between the countries.

As per the report, if the Modi Government sees potential in the plan and approves it, then it is said to be completed by 2030. As per reports, the train between Mumbai and Dubai will be designed in such a way that will run between 600 km/h and 1,000 km/h. The distance between Mumbai and Dubai will be only 2 hours. As per reports, the train will cover a 1,200-mile (approximately 2,000 km) long underwater train between Dubai and Mumbai.

It is pertinent to mention here that discussions are still ongoing, and further developments will depend on approvals and financial investments.
