Junta, Myanmar's military got a warning by the international organization- United Nations of severe consequences if it tries to suppress anti-coup protests.
Peaceful protests should be respected, said United Nations special envoy Christine Schraner Burgener. The internet connection was restored on Tuesday in Myanmar after it was snapped in the beginning of the coup.
This warning by Schraner came at a phone call with Junta's Soe Win, Deputy Head. According to Burgener, Internet shutdowns undermine core democratic principles.
The military in Myanmar alleged election-fraud and Aung San Suu Kyi has been overthrown. Protests ensued after the military coup and people are demanding release of Suu Kyi despite restrictions on protests.
People are coming out in large numbers. Military has
announced 20 years of imprisonment for those who prevents military from doing
its work. Now Junta could arrest anybody for 24 hours without any intervention
from court and it can search and make arrests also.
