In a perplexing turn of events in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh, a woman who was initially believed to be deceased and cremated has been found alive in Jhansi, approximately 600 kilometers away. The Uttar Pradesh police are now facing a baffling situation as they attempt to unravel the complexities of the case. Initially, a woman's body was discovered in the market area of Badshah village, and based on identification by Sumer (60), she was presumed to be his wife Phulmati (40), whose last rites were performed.
However, the case took a dramatic turn during the post-mortem examination, which revealed that the woman had been strangled to death, raising questions about her true identity. Further investigation led the police to track Phulmati's mobile phone, which indicated activity in Jhansi 600km away. This discovery prompted the revelation from Shubham in Sultanpur, who confessed to having taken Phulmati to Jhansi and clarified that she was alive.
According to Sumer, Phulmati had returned home from her maternal residence on June 15 but did not return after leaving for another destination. Her disappearance led to a missing person's report being filed, initiating the investigation. Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Tomar stated that following Phulmati's statement, she was reunited with her husband.
The police are now focused on establishing the connections between Sumer, Phulmati, Shubham, and the deceased woman whose identity remains unclear. CCTV footage depicting a hurried individual in the vicinity has also been obtained, adding a new dimension to the investigation.
