Popular OTT platform, Netflix will now not provide support to a few Apple devices. The users with these devices will now no longer be able to access the new features and updates of the streaming giant, Netflix.
The Apple users who will now update Netflix on their old iPhones and iPads will receive a message from Netflix, that reads, “We’ve updated the Netflix app! To use the latest version, install iOS17 or later.”
Which Apple device will not be supported by Netflix?
This streaming giant will no longer support the iPhones and iPads that are still running on iOS 16. These changes will affect the users who are using iPhones and iPads that are running on iOS 16 and can’t get updated to iOS 17 because of hardware limitations.
These Apple devices include iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple’s first-generation iPad Pro, and 5th-generation iPad. These devices will now not get access to new features and updates of Netflix. The users of these devices will have to upgrade to iOS 17 to access the updates of Netflix. The current app of these users will function but the users will not be able to access the bug fixes, new features, or security updates on the OTT platform.
MoMo Zhou, the Netflix spokesperson, was quoted saying that the company will not release any further updates for the iOS 16 version of the app.
However, the users of Apple devices running iOS 16 can use a web browser to watch their content.
It is pertinent to mention here that Netflix is yet to issue an official announcement over this.
How can iOS 16 users update the software?
The users of iOS 16 cannot update it but they can update the OS of their devices. For updating the OS, users can Go to Settings then tap on General and then tap Software Update. The users can choose the latest software update and install it. Users will have to enter their passcodes and then tap the Install option.
Today, Apple will launch its biggest iPhone update- iOS 18 update. The newly launched iPhone 16 will run with AI-powered iOS 18. Apple’s iOS 18 OS update will have new features for the users. The update will include all new customization options for both lock screen and home screen, a redesigned Control Centre and a password management app.
