The center on Tuesday launched a new Aadhaar app that allows users to digitally verify and share their Aadhaar details. This means that now you do not need to carry a physical card with you, nor will you need to submit its photocopy.
This app was officially launched by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in the national capital.
On this occasion, he stressed the importance of digital innovation and said that the app has been designed to make Aadhaar verification easier, faster, and more secure. Vaishnav said in a video message posted on social media platform
Easy like UPI
Ashwini Vaishnav said that Aadhaar verification has now become as easy as UPI payment. Users can now verify and share their Aadhaar details digitally, and that too while maintaining their privacy. With this new system, people will no longer need to produce a printed copy of their Aadhaar card at hotels, shops, airports, or any other verification point.
There is no need to provide photocopies of Aadhaar at hotel receptions, shops, or while traveling. This app has been designed with strong privacy protections. However, at present, it is still in the beta phase. This app ensures that Aadhaar details can neither be faked nor edited, nor misused.
How to use:
1. First of all, download the mAadhaar app from the Play Store or App Store on your smartphone.
2. After installing the app, open it and log in with your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID).
3. After login, you will get many options in the app, like Aadhar Update, Aadhar Download, Aadhar Verification, etc.
Where will it go?
1. Government Services: Through this app, you can avail yourself of government services like applications for PAN cards, applications for passports, gas subsidies, etc.
2. Banking services: Opening bank account, applying for loan
This app can also be used for banking and other banking services.
3. Digital Identity: Many private companies also use Aadhaar.
Accepted as identification, such as to purchase a mobile SIM.
Where it will not work:
1. Internationally: This app is valid only in India. It cannot be used abroad.
2. Some private services: Some private services and companies still do not accept Aadhaar as identification.
