Wrong!
If you feel safe wearing a helmet while driving a bike or scooter and think that you will not be fined, then this is not necessary. Despite wearing a helmet, a small mistake can get you a fine. This mistake is so common that most people make it again and again unknowingly.
What is that mistake that two-wheelers commit due to which they can be challaned?
Under the Motor Vehicle Act, along with wearing a helmet, it is also mandatory to tie its strap properly. Often people wear a helmet in a hurry or due to negligence. During that they do not wear the strap, due to which a fine can be deducted. Traffic police and CCTV cameras installed on the road can catch this mistake and those who break the rules can be fined.
How much fine will be deducted for not wearing a helmet strap?
If you have worn a helmet but have not tied the strap, then it will be considered a violation under Section 194D of the Motor Vehicle Act.
- A fine of Rs 1000 will be deducted for making the mistake for the first time.
- If this mistake is repeated again, then a fine of Rs 1000 will have to be paid again.
What can be the harm of not wearing the strap?
The main purpose of wearing a helmet is to protect the head and face, but if the strap is not worn then this protection remains incomplete.
- In case of an accident, the helmet can fall off the head, which increases the risk of serious head injury.
- Wearing a helmet without tying the strap is only a pretense, it does not provide real protection.
