Aam Aadmi Party's Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge, Nitin Kohli, on Wednesday visited Phagwara Gate and held a meeting with the traders. Phagwara Gate is the home to Jalandhar’s largest electronics market. Visiting Phagwara Gate, Kohli interacted directly with traders and briefed them on the pro-business reforms that have been made by the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government by ending Inspector Raj in the state.
Speaking to shopkeepers and business owners, Kohli emphasized that the Bhagwant Mann-led government has taken a revolutionary step to end the oppressive "Inspector Raj," a move that has long been demanded by Punjab’s trading community.
The local business community welcomed the reforms with enthusiasm. Traders at Phagwara Gate expressed appreciation for the Aam Aadmi Party’s efforts in simplifying business operations and boosting confidence among entrepreneurs.
Before this, Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge, Nitin Kohli, lauded the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government for abolishing Inspector Raj in Punjab. Nitin Kohli said, "The Punjab Government has made a major decision that has brought huge relief to small businesses. There is a wave of happiness among the small business community. The Mann Government has officially ended Inspector Raj. I’m thankful to our supremo, Shri Arvind Kejriwal ji, and Punjab CM Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann ji for this bold move."
Kohli explained that under the new rules, establishments employing fewer than 20 people will no longer be subjected to frequent inspections or tedious compliance procedures. “Inspectors can now visit only once in six months, reducing interference in day-to-day operations,” he informed. He further highlighted that the overtime limit for workers has been raised from 50 to 144 hours and that businesses with over 20 employees will now receive registration approval within 24 hours—or it will be deemed approved automatically.
The Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge also outlined the changes in the penalty structure, noting that earlier fines ranged from Rs 25–Rs 100, while now the first-time penalty will range from Rs 1,000–Rs 3,000, with a three-month grace period for corrections. “Even legal compliance will no longer require a court visit. It’s a direct and streamlined system,” he added.
