Thousands of farmers from Punjab headed to the National Capital on Tuesday kickstarting their 'Delhi Chalo' protest after farmer unions and Centre's meeting remained inconclusive. At least ten thousand farmers are heading to New Delhi to protest against the Government of India to fulfill their multiple demands including a legal guarantee on MSP. To stop the farmers from marching to Delhi in view of the law & order, Haryana and Delhi announced Section 144 and sealed the border with Punjab. Now, a Haryana DCP's video is going viral on social media in which he was seen giving a bizarre solution to Police & security forces deployed on the ground in Kaithal.
A Haryana DCP named Ravindra Tomar was heard ordering the police personnel not to hit protesting farmers with sticks but with 'Khod'. Khod is apparently the pointed end of the lath (stick). DCP Tomer stated that khod is a Haryanvi Jugaad. Not only this, DCP Tomer stated that he would also explain this practically to the Indian Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). In fact, to stop the farmers marching from Punjab towards Delhi, police have laid siege in different districts of Haryana. Borders have been sealed. DCP Ravindra Tomar's duty in Kaithal district adjoining Punjab is also busy in stopping the farmers.
In the viral video, Tomer was heard saying, "We do not have to hit sticks, we only have to use Khod. This will help maintain your distance and reduce injuries. Will also explain it practically to ITBP people. Because policemen and ITBP personnel are on duty together."
Farmers pelted with tear gas by Haryana Police at Shambhu Border
Many farmers started their march to Delhi at around 10 AM today from Fatehgarh Sahib following the inconclusive meeting at Chandigarh. They were moving towards Delhi via the Shambhu border when upon their arrival, the police were quick to lob tear gas in order to disperse the farmers. Farmers from the south Malwa districts of Fazilka, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa, left in groups to gather near Shambhu and Khanauri.
