When the victim protested against the torture, the accused started assaulting her. The victim told all this to her family following which talks were held and a truce was reached. On 29 April 2020, the accused went to Canada. When the accused went to Canada and the victim asked the accused to take her with him, things took a dark turn. When the file reached the Canadian Embassy, the accused started demanding Rs 30 lakh. When the victim refused to give the money, the accused sent divorce papers to the victim. Then the victim's family complained about the matter to the SSP of Jalandhar. After a long investigation, the police had registered a case last year.
