Only two working days for banks till 4th April 2021

All banks in India – public and private – will not entertain their customers at the physical branches till April 4th, 2021. A combination of events make the upcoming week challenging for people who depend mainly on the physical branches for their banking requirements. Also, this may be a good time to upgrade one’s lifestyle to digital services.

End of the financial year is always a hectic time for bank employees and as a custom, that day is working for the employees but public dealing is not permitted.

Also, second and fourth Saturdays per calendar month are now off days at banks while the other Saturdays are full-time when earlier all Saturdays were working days for half-day.

Then, there are scheduled holidays which also depend upon the state where the bank is operating depending upon the local customs and traditions.

Now, how all this affects you is that the upcoming week from March 27, 2021 to April 4th, 2021 either your bank’s physical branch will be closed or you will not be entertained even if the branch is open.

The details of each day are given in a little below.

But first, if you are using online services like your bank’s app, or G Pay,  PayTM, MobiKwik ,PhonePe, or any such facility, then you do not need to be concerned.

However, if you require the services of a physical bank, then you are out of luck as the doors of you bank will open on Monday of April 5th, 2021 with only two working days in between.

Though, it is reasonable to predict that all branches of all banks of the nation will be inundated with many more than average footfalls during those two days and on 5th April.

The date-wise reason for the off-days is as follows:

March 27: Fourth Saturday

March 28: Sunday

March 29: Holi

March 30, Tuesday: Patna banks will be closed as Holi here is a two-day holiday, but elsewhere BANKS ARE OPEN

March 31: Last day of the financial year

April 1: Book closing of accounts

April 2: Good Friday

April 3, Saturday: BANKS ARE OPEN

April 4: Sunday

All readers are advised to keep calm, migrate to online services if they have not already started using the same, and plan their schedule to allow for some delay in getting their requests at the physical branches processed on the days the banks open on or before April 5th, 2021.
