“Our Path Forward”, Melania Trump releases statement condemning US Capitol riots

Melania Trump has extended her condolences to the ones who got killed in the Capitol building attack.

US First Lady Melania Trump has released a statement today condemning last weeks’ US Capitol Hill Building attack that rocked the biggest democracy in the world. She said, "violence is never acceptable." 

Her statement titled  "Our path forward' released by the White House said, "Make no mistake about it, I absolutely condemn the violence that has occurred on our Nation's Capitol.”

She added that this time is for the United States to "heal in a civil manner."

She also requested people to stop the violence and destruction of any sort. She said, "I implore people to stop the violence, never make assumptions based on the colour of a person's skin or use differing political ideologies as a basis for aggression and viciousness."

Ms Trump also added that the wrong allegations and "unwanted personal attacks" on her around the violence is shameful and unacceptable. She extended her condolences to ones killed in the Capitol Hill attack.   

Four pro-Trump supporters, who had stormed the Capitol last week were shot dead by the police during the violence, including two police officers.

Her statement read, "Most recently, my heart goes out to- Air Force Veteran, Ashli Babbit, Benjamin Philips, Kevin Greeson, Rosanne Boyland, and Capitol Police Officers, Brian Sicknick and Howard Liebengood. I pray for their families comfort and strength during this difficult time.”

Concluding her statement, Melania thanked "millions of Americans" who supported her and her husband Donald Trump for the four years of his presidency. "I am grateful to you all for letting me serve you on platforms which are dear to me," she added.

Last week, an outraged mob of President Donald Trump's supporters attacked the Capitol Hill in Washington DC, breaking barricades, damaging property and shouting slogans, which led to an hour lockdown of the building.

Twitter has banned Donald Trump permanently for language that could “incite violence” including few of his close allies while many from his administration resigned soon after the riots.
