Panama Papers Case: Aishwarya Rai to appear before ED for questioning

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will appear before Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Panama Papers case on Monday. According to sources, the ED officials have already prepared the list of questions. Soon, Amitabh Bachchan can be asked to appear before ED.


What is the Panama Papers leak case?


The Panama Papers are 11.5 million leaked documents that were published beginning on April 3, 2016. The documents contain personal financial information about wealthy individuals and public officials that had previously been kept private. Many Indian industrialists and celebrities, including actors Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, DLF owner K.P. Singh and Vinod Adani (Gautam Adani’s elder brother), were named in the leaked documents. All these people were accused of tax evasion.


The investigation of the Panama Papers case is going on for a long time, in this case, Abhishek Bachchan has also been questioned. Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were named in this case. They have been called earlier to the ED office to submit some documents. According to a report, Amitabh Bachchan was made a director of 4 companies. Of these, three were in the Bahamas, while one was in the Virgin Islands. These were created in 1993. Aishwarya was earlier made the director of a company. Later she was declared a shareholder of the company. 



Aishwarya Rai had also been summoned earlier for questioning, but she had twice sought more time.
