Punjab: Due to the wrong attitude of Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural, the PCS Officers Association has also supported the strike on July 25 by the employees of DC Office Jalandhar.

Friday i.e. on the 22nd July 2022 a Member of the Legislative Assembly entered various branches of DC office Jalandhar with several cameras and people and misbehaved with all present. Every government employee works within the ambit of law and gives due respect to MLAs as per protocol. Getting basic respect in return from them is the least that we can expect. The PCS Officers' Association strongly condemns this.

Unbecoming behaviour and action by a public representative in Jalandhar including his behaviour with the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner and other senior functionaries present in the office. As a mark of protest, all officers shall be wearing black badges on 25th July 2022 for the entire day. The association further supports the action taken by the Punjab State Distt. (D.C.) Office Employees Association (Jalandhar Unit) resolves to brief the highest echelons in the state regarding the matter.

Earlier, TrueScoop got in touch with ADC Amit Sareen who has also been the head of Jan Lokpal Andolan at Amritsar and was the corruption crusader. We spoke to him regarding the same and here is what he has to say about this incident.

Major Amit Sareen said that what Sheetal Angural did yesterday was uncalled for and should be considered a cheap publicity stunt. The major reason behind doing this was that DC transferred two tainted registry Clerks and other clerks to other posts that annoyed local MLAs.

Furthermore, he sensed that the selected transferred people might be also providing them money to get their work done. He also revealed during the conversation that when he rescued a 15-day-old girl from getting sold, Sheetal Angural requested him to give the girl to the accused woman even after knowing that she was not her real mother.

He also told that he was not happy with how the whole incident was covered. Instead of calling the media and making it a political stunt, the MLA could have followed a proper procedure to speak to the ADC in this regard. “It shows how childish he is when it comes to tackling problems,” said the ADC.

“Basically, they want that all the people should work according to them and not according to the rules and regulations. They are using officers to get their work done whether it is correct or not,” added Major Sareen.
