Steven Knight is all set to create Peaky Blinders, a British period crime drama movie. The plot of the movie is set in Birmingham and it revolves around Peaky Blinders crime gang. This fictional gang is loosely based on a real urban youth gang who was active in the city from the 1880s to the 1920s.
Previously, Steven Knight had created a television series of the same name. This series was multi-award-winning, six-season gangster saga. Tom Harper, the director of episodes of the show’s first season in 2013 will direct the movie.
It will star Cillian Murphy, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, Jay Lycurgus and Barry Keoghan. This film, which is currently under production, will be an epic continuation of the series.
The storyline of the movie will revolve around Peaky Blinders following the rise of the Shelby family as they navigated a world of radical social, economic, and political change between 1919 and 1934.
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight shared about the next chapter of the story and said, “I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders.”
Cillian Murphy talked about the re-collaboration and said “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
When and where to watch Peaky Blinders online?
The Peaky Blinders movie is set to be released on Netflix, but an official release date has not yet been announced. The fil is under production, suggesting a potential release date in late 2025 or early 2026.
Tom Harpy shared his experience of directing the first season and said, “When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive. Peaky has always been a story about family and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
