Self-styled godman and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, convicted in rape and murder case has once again managed to get the limelight from his ardent disciples. There lies no doubt that his followers include Sikhs too even after a clash broke out between the Sikh apex body- Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) and Ram Rahim after the latter dressed up as the 10th Sikh Guru.

Although, the matter is now subdued, seems like it won’t remain for a long as his one follower might land him into trouble. On Thursday, a prayer for Ram Rahim’s good health and instant jail release in Bathinda’s Sikh Temple was done by the husband of the village sarpanch.

The incident took place in the Beed Talab Basti, Bathinda where Gurmel Singh Khalsa, husband of sarpanch Rajpal Kaur, offered a prayer for Ram Rahim’s jail release at a local gurudwara.

It may be noted here that accused Gurmel belongs to the Dalit community, and has hurt the religious sentiments of the community. After the video of the incident went viral, he was nabbed by the police on the charges of inciting communal violence.

Apart from this, accused Gurmel has also offered his prayers for the longevity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hailed his decision of announcing a Dalit face as Punjab’s upcoming chief minister.

Accused has also spoken ill about the former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, which led to the stringent action against him. SHO Bant Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under the sections of IPC.
