As election season is around the corner in Punjab, the swindlers are leaving no stone unturned to cash in on opportunity.

After Prashant Kishor was appointed as Principal Adviser to Punjab CM, there were speculations in the Punjab Congress that Kishor may decide on the tickets for next year's Assembly elections. It seems like using the same information, the fraudsters posing as aides of Prashant Kishor, tried to duped party MLAs and other political leaders of lakhs of rupees by promising them tickets in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.

As per information from the Ludhiana Police, the swindlers made calls to nearly 30 to 40 party leaders from Ludhiana, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Amritsar and other districts of Punjab and asked for Rs 30 to 40 lakh each. They asked for Rs 10 lakh in advance and the rest of the amount in installment.

Meanwhile, after some MLAs reported the matter to the CM office, who then ordered Ludhiana police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal to carry out an investigation and nab the culprits, three of the accused were held.

Two of them were held from a hotel near Jalandhar. A case under sections 420, 379, 473 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Dehlon police station in Ludhiana.

The accused have been identified as Ranchit Kumar, alias Raja, Gaurav Sharma and Rakesh Paseen, all residents of Amritsar.
