After winning Bengal Elections with a thumping majority, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee seems to have emerged as a formidable challenge to the Centre's ruling party.

In an interview to a private channel, Mamata Banerjee, speaking about her bitterly-fought battle with the BJP and recording her third successive win in the West Bengal Assembly elections, she said that ‘BJP need political oxygen now’.

She said BJP used everything -- money power, muscle power and everything possible -- but the people of Bengal have voted for development. It is the people choice and they have shown the way.  The people of Bengal have saved democracy. I congratulate all my mothers and sister and minority brothers and sisters.

She further said that a political party should never show audacity or ego as it’s the people who decide their representatives and they must not be taken for granted.

Talking about the reports on the post-poll violence in parts of the state, Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of trying to create a disruptive environment in areas where they have won.

She also said that the oath taking ceremony will be organised in a small way on May 5. There will be a huge victory rally at the Brigade, but that will be announced later once the pandemic subsides.

Making it obvious that fighting Covid is her priority, the Trinamool supremo vowed to work for the people all through her life.
