Srinagar: In an encounter during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) two militants were killed by security forces in an encounter during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday, informed the official sources.
After being warned about the presence of militants at Hajin Payeen Rajpora in Pulwama, a joint search operation was launched early this morning by the troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF.
When the security forces were moving towards particular area in hilly orchards, the militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons which was reciprocated, ensuing in an encounter. Two militants were killed, they said.
Additional security forces have been deployed to prevent demonstrations near the encounter site; they said adding internet service still remained suspended in Pulwama for the second day today. The service was suspended early Friday when an encounter took place in which militant Ishfaq Yousuf Wani was killed.
