The ongoing tussle in the Punjab Congress may finally come to an end as the All India Congress Committee’s three-member panel, headed by senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, is expected to submit its report to the Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday.
After a series of meetings with Punjab Congress MLAs, former minister Navjot Sidhu and CM Capt Amarinder Singh, the committee met on Tuesday and held a final discussion to resolve the internal feud.
Sources have confirmed that a major proportion of ministers and leaders want the Assembly Elections 2022 to be contested under Capt’s leadership.
However, there are reports that the AICC panel had recommended some organisational changes, including replacing the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar. Besides, there is information that Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari could become the new Chief of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.
Perhaps, the High Command’s youth leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi do not want the present Punjab CM to be the face for the upcoming elections and were in favour that Navjot Sidhu must be given a big responsibility.

Meanwhile, sources also informed that even those MLAs, who were against CM Capt Amarinder Singh and accused him of being unfair, reposed faith in him to lead the party, and said that Sidhu is definitely not the right choice for a big role.
Now, the committee is all set to submit their report today but the final call has to be taken by the Congress High Command. It is being anticipated that within a day or two the party scenario would be clear.
Notably, deliberations are on among the Gandhi family as Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi do not want Navjot Sidhu to be overshadowed in the party whereas the AICC chief wants CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s image to stand tall in both Congress and Punjab.
