In a major political development, the BOI, Mohali has registered a case against Akali leader and former minister Bikram Majithia at Monday midnight. The case has been registered by the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali. The action has been taken after constant allegations against Majithia regarding the drugs case. The FIR has been registered under section 25/27A/29 of the NDPS Act. It is expected that the leader may be arrested soon.

Earlier, Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu claimed that the Special Task Force (STF) report contains Majithia’s name, the report was prepared under ADGP Harpreet Sidhu. Sidhu was constantly poking CM Channi to investigate Majithia and as per the reports, the seven-year-old case has been reopened on the orders of DS Patwalia, who became AG after replacing APS Deol.

The newly appointed AG said in the High Court that there is no bar on opening the STF report. After which the High Court reprimanded the government that why no investigation has been started in the matter.

The Channi-led government appointed Siddharth Chattopadhyay as acting DGP, after removing Iqbalpreet Sahota, to take some strict action in this matter.

Regarding this whole matter, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Virsa Singh Valtoha said that Majithia has been deliberately trapped by the Punjab government as CM Channi has no issue, so the government is making a new controversy. The three ADGP of the Bureau of Investigation had denied the involvement of Majithia in any drug case.

Today, UPSC is going to conduct an important meeting and a new DGP may get appointed by the Punjab Government. Reportedly, before this appointment, Chattopadhyay may take some more strict and important actions.
