On Friday, 25th October, due to delays in lifting the paddy crop, farmers have intensified their protests and has blocked the the Amritsar-Delhi Highway near Bakapur village between Phillaur and Goraya. This protest organized by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha has closed the highway from 11 AM to 3 PM and has created significant travel disruptions.
While the emergency services, such as fire brigades, school buses, and ambulances, have been granted passage, other traffic is being rerouted as follows:
• Traffic from Ludhiana to Jalandhar is diverted via Nurmahal and Nakodar.
• Traffic heading toward Banga, Ropar, and Rupnagar is redirected through Nawanshahr Road.
• Jalandhar to Ludhiana traffic is rerouted through nearby villages.
An additional protest at Khanna Mill Chowk has entered its fifth day, impacting Goraya and Jalandhar-bound traffic with detours through Mouli village and the Nawanshahr bypass. The diversions are causing heavy disruptions for travelers, especially during the festive season, with local authorities working to manage the situation.
