Punjab government declares holiday on THIS date; Schools, colleges & govt offices to remain closed

A public holiday has been declared by the Punjab government on the holy festival of Maha Shivaratri on Wednesday, 26th February. On this day, there will be a holiday in government offices, government and private schools, colleges, educational institutions and other business units all across the state.

This year, the festival of Maha Shivaratri will be celebrated all across the country on 26th February. On this day, people worship Lord Shiva and also observe fast for the whole day. 

On this day, special worship rituals and programs are organized in temples and other places. Keeping in mind the sentiments of the Hindu people living in Punjab, the state government has declared a holiday. In this regard, orders have already been given to administrative officials in all the districts of Punjab.

This Hindu festival celebrated annually in honour of the Lord Shiva, between February and March. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival is observed on the fourteenth day of the first half of the lunar month of Phalguna.

This festival commemorates the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is believed that fasting and praying to Lord Shiva on this day can bring good health, prosperity, and happiness.
