The Punjab government is going to implement a new policy for playway schools. According to the guidelines, schools will be monitored by the department. There will be no screening test or parents interview for the child's admission in schools. Junk food will be completely banned in these schools.
This information was given by Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur at a press conference in Chandigarh. He has appealed the parents to check whether the school is registered or not before enrolling their children in these schools. Information regarding this will be uploaded on the website of the Social Welfare Department.
He said that the health of children is our top priority. Playway schools running in one room will be completely closed. He said that earlier the government's control was on Anganwadi centres whereas now all playway centers will be controlled.
Punjab government has released these 14 guidelines for playway:
1. All private and government play schools running in the state will be registered. After this, the government will have all the details of the children.
2. A teacher will not be able to teach more than 20 children. He will also be accompanied by a care taker.
3. The four days of the school should be safe, there will be a suitable place for the child to play.
4. The classrooms of the school should be open. At the same time, the arrangement of the rest room will also be decided.
5. There will be separate toilets for boys and girls. It will be child friendly. There will be soap and towels.
6. CCTV cameras have also been made mandatory in all schools.
7. Children will be taught in games in the playway. There will be no work load on them
8. The child will not be punished. The teacher will not even be able to threaten the child.
9. There will be a library arrangement inside the play way. Clean drinking water should be provided to children.
10. There will be a health checkup of the child every month, its record will be kept. The school will keep a record of the vaccination of the child.
11 Fire safety, health facilities will be tested in the school for the safety of the child.
12 There will also be a guide line on how the fee will be charged in the school
13 At the time of admission, there will be no screening test of the child and interview of parents.
14. Parents Teacher Association will be formed. Also, junk food will be banned.
The registration process will be done in a month.
Minister Baljit Kaur said that now all play schools will be registered within a month. The school that will follow the rules will be able to run only. At the same time, parents of schools will form WhatsApp groups. All the information will be shared. Apart from this, there will be a checking of playway schools from time to time. Schools will be registered every year.
