The upcoming weekend has been extended by one day as Punjab Govt. announced a holiday on Monday. On this day, schools, colleges, educational institutions and other commercial units across the state will remain closed. This is due to the fact that the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nabha Das Ji will be celebrated across the state. The government has included this day in the list of government holidays for the year 2024.
Government schools, colleges and other government institutions will remain closed on this day. If there is a bank-related task that is yet to be done, then it is advised to complete it immediately as Banks are also likely to remain closed on Monday in Punjab.
Among the holidays, April 11 will be a holiday on account of Id-ul-fitar. April 13 and 14 will see another pair of consecutive holidays on account of Baisakhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti.
Who was Shri Guru Nabha Dass Ji?
Nabha Dass, born as Narayan Dass, was a Hindu saint, theologian and author of the Bhaktamal. In this sacred scripture, Nabha Das wrote the life history of almost every saint ranging from the Satya Yuga to the Kali Yuga age. Nabha Dass wrote ‘Bhakatmal’ in 1585.
