Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has intensified the crackdown against corruption in the state. Following his zero-tolerance policy against corruption, Chief Minister Mann has directed DCs, Police Commissioners, SSPs, and other officials in the state to stop corruption in their respective areas. The seriousness of the direction can be understood by the fact that CM Mann has clearly stated that if corruption does not end, actions will be taken against the respective areas' DC, SSP, Police Commissioner, and SHO.
Furthermore, feedback from MLAs and the public will be taken on corruption by the Mann government. The following direction comes a day after the Punjab Cabinet meeting took place on Thursday. Mann's government made a plethora of announcements after the meeting. After Mann's strict direction against corruption, information has been received that state agencies including the Vigilance Bureau will become pro-active. Also, there is information that the Mann government can make fresh transfers and postings of Police and administrative officials.
Talking about announcements made by Punjab Government after Cabinet Meeting, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday accorded consent to disburse pending arrears worth Rs 14,000 crore to them. The Cabinet also gave nod to create new posts in Punjab State Legal Services Authority for setting up 22 new Lok Adalats in the state to dispense justice to the people.
