Questions have been raised on the functioning of Punjab police Intelligence Wing after the arrest of Khalistani sympathizer and 'Waris Punjab de' chief,Amritpal Singh on the premises of Gurudwara Sant Khalsa, Rode, Moga. Although the police must be commended for arresting Amritpal without any bloodshed or disruption, the circumstances leading to his arrest have raised eyebrows.

Amritpal had been on the run for 36 days, and it is unclear how he managed to travel all around Punjab and eventually reach Gurudwara Sant Khalsa, which is a sensitive place as it is the birthplace of Khalistan sympathizer Jairnail Singh Bhindrawala. It is widely known that Amritpal's Dastar Bandi ceremony took place there, and the fact that he was able to reach that particular place while the police and intelligence agencies were searching for him has raised questions about the effectiveness of their operations.

This is not the first instance where events have cast a shadow on the working of the Punjab police Intelligence Wing. Previous incidents such as the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, an attack on their own headquarters with a rocket launcher, and an attack on a police station in Ajnala have all raised concerns about the effectiveness of the bureau.

The arrest of Amritpal at Gurudwara Sant Khalsa has raised several questions about the ability of the Punjab police Intelligence Wing to apprehend criminals effectively. It is imperative that the authorities investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
