‘Chak De! India’ fame actress Sagarika Ghatge and Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan are among the cutest celebrity couples. Fans always feel delighted watching the two blossom in happiness. The pair tied the knot on November 23, 2017, through a court marriage, and they’ve now been blissfully married for eight years. In an interview, the Bollywood actress opened up about their interfaith relationship and shared how her father, Vijay Ghatge, first met Zaheer and the discussions that took place.
During her interview with Hautterfly, Sagarika was asked whether religion had ever been the center of discussion among their families.

After his split from Isha Sharvani, Zaheer Khan met Sagarika Ghatge at a mutual friend’s party. They connected and hit it off well. A few more meetings later, their bond grew stronger and eventually blossomed into a relationship. The pair made their relationship official when they appeared together at Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech’s wedding in 2016. The couple got engaged in April 2017.
Despite the stereotypical side of society questioning their intercaste marriage and seven-year age difference (which isn’t much of an age gap at all), the couple remained steadfast in their love, inspiring many with their resilience.

Speaking with Hauterrfly, Sagarika Ghatge said, "When my father got to know about it, he had messaged Zaheer’s coach, Anshuman Gaekwad, because he’s related to us. Kaka’s some relation or the other. So he messaged him, and then he (Anshuman) sent a message to Zaheer, saying, ‘Oh, I’ve heard you’re friendly with my niece.’ Zaheer is showing me this, and he’s like, ‘I’m not replying.’ I said, ‘Don’t reply. I don’t know whatever that is’."
Later, she added, "So, my father actually got his background check done very properly. And all he’s like, ‘Oh, he’s one of the nicest cricketers.’ That is all everyone told him. But I think it was important for my father to do his due diligence.”
She had said, "It was people around us who were making that conversation. My parents were very progressive people, and of course, things were discussed. But for me, it was important to find the right human being whom I could share my life with,” she said, adding, "We both are very individual people, and that is the beauty of it."
