Schools reopen in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh today following Covid-19 protocols

From Monday, schools in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh have reopened. Many states including Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh have reopened their schools from the first week of August.

The situation of Covid-19 is gradually improving and the government is slowly opening the country. Several state governments have ordered to open schools in the month of August. On Monday (August 16, 2021) three more states have ordered to open the schools, these states are Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Andhra Pradesh has opened the schools for class 1st and Class 12th, Uttar Pradesh has opened the school for higher classes (from class 9th to class 12th) and Bihar has opened a school for the students of class 1st to class 8th. 

Earlier, several states, including, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh reopened the schools for the different classes. Some states like Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan have ordered to reopen the schools for class 9th and class 12th with 50 percent of capacity.

The states are opening the school in between the talks about the Covid-19 third wave therefore, the schools would be reopened as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the respective state governments and educational institutions would have to follow proper COVID-19 safety protocol. 

School reopens in Andhra Pradesh: 

Andhra Pradesh government has opened the school for class 1st to class 10th from Monday, Covid-19 rules must be strictly followed. Reportedly, around 70 lakh students studying in 61,000 government, private and aided schools are would attend physical classes from August 16 onwards in the state. 

According to the SOPs issued by Andhra Pradesh, only 20 percent of students would be allowed to sit in a class and the school timing would remain the same. It is compulsory to provide the written consent of parents to attend the physical classes.

The state-run schools have said that a student with comorbidities will not be allowed to attend physical classes.


School reopens in Uttar Pradesh:

Schools in Uttar Pradesh have been opened for the students of higher and intermediate classes from August 16. The admissions for junior classes would begin from today onwards. Uttar Pradesh Government has ordered that 50 percent of students would be allowed in a class and every student must wear a mask and must carry sanitizer with them. UP government has also made it compulsory to submit consent letters by parents to attend physical classes at school.

School reopens in Bihar:

In Bihar, physical classes for class 1st to class 8th have been commenced from August 16. Students of class 9th and class 10th were attending offline classes from August 7 whereas students of class 11th and class 12th were going to schools since July 12.

Special guidelines have been issued by the government of Bihar. Patna District Education Administration has made it mandatory for all educational institutions to follow the guidelines for the safety of all. Bihar government has also issued safety guidelines to operate buses.
