In a surprising movie, Shah Rukh Khan's last movie of the year 2023, Dunki was released on a digital platform on February 15, 2024 midnight. Yes! you heard it right. Without any major announcements or promotions, Dunki was dropped on a major OTT platform for the fans to stream to it online. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki features Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal (in a special appearance), and more in the leading roles. Dunki revolves around a group of friends who dream of going to London but lack basic English knowledge. Dunki was released in theaters on December 21, 2023, and therefore, fans did not expect the Shah Rukh Khan movie to release on OTT till March 2024. However, the makers had other plans in mind. Dunki was released on February 15, 2024, on the American streaming platform Netflix. Therefore, Dunki's online streaming is available on Netflix. While Dunki was not among the highest-earning movies of Shah Rukh Khan in the year 2023, still the movie received massive praise for its storyline by fans and critics on social media. It is said that Dunki is a true story based on the illegal immigration technique of donkey flight used by fraudsters to smuggle people into foreign countries.

Interestingly, recently in an interview Dunki director Rajkumar Hirani revealed that an image of a real house in Jalandhar inspired him to make the Shah Rukh Khan movie. Apart from the real-life house, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that Rajkumar Hirai sent him an image of Gurudawara where people go to pray for visas.

 

Responding to it, Rajkumar Hirani said, "This is called Visa 'Wala' Gurudwara. When you visit the Gurudwara, there are shops outside that sell toy airplanes. People buy it and offer it inside the Gurudwara. People even take their passports with them to the Gurudwara. People show their passports to God and pray that their Visa get accepted. I talked to many people there and got to know thousands of people come to pray daily for their visas."
