Advocate Dhami said that according to the Constitution of India, Sikhs have full right to wear Kirpan and according to the Sikh rehat mariada, no Amritdhari Sikh can separate the five Sikh KakKars from his body. The Kirpan is one of the 5 mandatory Kakkars that an baptised Sikh (Amritdhari) must wear on their person at all times. He said that for Sikh candidates have been targeted in the country from quite some time. There have been frequent incidents where baptized Sikhs are asked to remove their religious symbols and denied admission to the competitive examinations for protesting. goes
The Shiromani Committee President termed this phenomenon as a big discrimination against the Sikhs in India. He said that the Sikh organization is with the victim Gursikh girl.
Advocate Dhami said that this discrimination against Sikh candidates hurts their psyche, because such criminal treatment of candidates before the paper has a profound impact on their performance in the paper. He said that even though everyone knows that Kirpan is a part of the five virtues of Sikhs and it is also an expression of Sikh identity, fundamental rights, still treating Sikhs with hatred is highly condemnable.
Advocate Dhami requested the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Government Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma to intervene in this matter immediately and asked him to take strict action against the guilty officials who prevented the Sikh girl from entering the examination. He also demanded from the Chief Minister that special arrangements should be made by the state government for the Sikh candidate of the Rajasthan Judicial Services competitive examination, Advocate Armanjot Kaur.
