Jaat movie controversy in Jalandhar

The movie has sparked serious outrage among the Christian community over a scene that allegedly disrespects Christian religious sentiments. To be precise, the controversy centers around a sequence featuring actor Randeep Hooda standing inside a church, portrayed in what community leaders describe as an objectionable and offensive manner.

Since its release, members of the Christian group have voiced strong objections, particularly over a scene where Randeep Hooda is shown standing beneath a framed image of Jesus Christ placed above the sacred church pulpit, amid what they claim is an atmosphere of intimidation and hooliganism.

According to community leaders, the depiction of violence and threatening behavior within the holy premises of a church has hurt the religious sentiments of Christians across the country.

A spokesman of the group said, “The pulpit is one of the most sacred spaces in our religious tradition. Portraying violence in such a setting is not just disrespectful, it appears to be a deliberate attempt to malign our faith."

As per the information received, on Sunday, the Christian community had initially planned a protest outside cinema halls screening the film. However, police authorities intervened and stopped the demonstration. Therefore, a delegation submitted a memorandum to the Joint Commissioner of Police in Jalandhar, demanding an immediate ban on the film in theatres and legal action against the filmmakers, including the director, producer, lead actors, and production house.

The community has issued a 48-hour ultimatum, warning that if no action is taken, they will intensify their agitation.
