BJP announces the names of 6 candidates and their constituencies from where they will fight the General Elections 2024. The newly joined Sushil Kumar Rinku will fight Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Jalandhar, while Ravneet Singh Bittu will be fighting from Ludhiana. While Sushil Rinku quit the AAP party a few days back, Ravneet Bittu also left Congress to join the BJP. Notably, it is expected that BJP may release its remaining 7 candidates in the next list. Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha seats. Below is the BJP candidates list for the Punjab Lok Sabha Elections-
BJP Candidates List for Punjab Lok Sabha Elections 2024
- Dinesh Singh 'Babbu' to contest from Gurdaspur
- Taranjit Singh Sandhu from Amritsar
- Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar
- Hans Raj Hans from Faridkot
- Preneet Kaur from Patiala
- Ravneet Singh Bittu from Ludhiana
Why did Sushil Rinku quit as Jalandhar MP & from the AAP Party?
During the press conference, Sushil Rinku said, "Today, I am formally joining the BJP only because of one reason i.e. the development of Jalandhar. States adjacent to Punjab are developing on a rapid scale but Punjab especially my constituency Jalandhar is falling behind. It is true that the promises I made to the people of Jalandhar were not fulfilled because my party (AAP) did not support me. Many development works could not even start in Jalandhar and its villages."
Rinku further said, "I am impressed with the working style of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Whatever developmental work I brought to them whether it was Jalandhar's Adampur Airport, I was received very respectfully, especially by Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. On my request, he started flight services from Jalandhar's Adampur Airport. I then demanded new trains then Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave the Vande Bharat Train for Jalandhar and even gave a stoppage on people's demand. "
