The masturbation scene in Swara Bhasker's film "Veere Di Wedding" caused quite a stir. As a result, Swara was exposed to a tremendous deal of scrutiny. Some people thought it was unethical.

Swara
Bhasker remarked in a twitter space session that,  “Social media is a (virtual) public space like roads & restaurants are, but the public decency and basic social etiquette maintained offline are absent online. I can’t even post a photo of a flower without people linking it to masturbation or referencing ‘ungli’ (finger) after Veere Di Wedding came out.”

“It’s ugly and amounts to cyber sexual harassment but I feel very strongly about not succumbing to online bullying or limiting my presence online because of it. We cannot cede the virtual public space to hate, bigotry and bullying,” she added. She captioned her post, “Speak your truth. Stand your ground.”

'Veere Di Wedding,' directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Nikhil Dwivedi, is a 2018 comedy film. It's a remake of Kaley Cuoco's 2015 film The Wedding Ringer. As four friends attending a wedding, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania star, with Neena Gupta as a supporting role.

Last week, the 33-year-old actress was attacked by internet trolls after she posted a tweet in which she expressed her thoughts on the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan. People in India cannot be comfortable with "Hindutva terror" and then express horror at the Taliban terror happening in Afghanistan, according to the actress.

The tweet further read, "We can’t be chill with Taliban terror; and then be all indignant about 'Hindutva terror'. Our humanitarian and ethical values should not be based on the identity of the oppressor or oppressed.”

Many trolls were enraged by the post, and the hashtag "Arrest Swara Bhasker" was started. Many others accused the actress of injuring their " religious sentiments," and some even called for the authorities to monitor her post.

Swara recently starred alongside Divya Dutta and Shabana Azmi in the short film "Sheer Qorma." The same-sex love story of Faraz Arif Ansari has screened at a number of film festivals around the world but has yet to be released in India.
