The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced Team India's squad for T20 World Cup 2024. T20 World Cup 2024 is being jointly hosted by West Indies and the USA for the first time. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had given May 1 as the deadline to announce their squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. As a result, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar On Tuesday arrived at a hotel in Ahmedabad to attend the T20 World Cup team selection meeting. Before the announcement, questions were raised on Virat Kohli's place. The former Indian captain, Virat Kohli's strike rate in the middle overs was turning out to be a concern. Many cricket experts and fans have pointed out Virat Kohli's slow-placed innings. However, after the RCBvsGT match, Virat slammed the experts saying that he plays according to the situation and not for strike rate.

Apart from Kohli, questions were also raised on whether the selectors should go with all-rounder Hardik Pandya or hard-hitter Shivam Dubey. While Hardik Pandya is captaining Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 replacing Rohit Sharma, Shivam Dubey has impressed everyone with his six-hitting capability. Not only this, BCCI was mulling hard for Wicket-Keeper batters. Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, and Ishan Kishan were the top contenders. However, many fans pointed out that Sanju Samson is performing exceptionally well in the IPL 2024 and therefore, he should be Team India's first-choice wicket-keeper.
