Tej Pratap Yadav's Lovestory: How can RJD leader's relationship with Anushka land him in prison?

Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and former minister in Bihar, broke the internet after his photo with his girlfriend Anushka Yadav went viral on social media. A photo of the couple Tej Pratap Yadav and Anushka was shared on the RJD leader's Facebook handle in which the former Bihar Minister said, "I, Tej Pratap Yadav, have known and loved Anushka Yadav for the past 12 years. We have been in a relationship for that long. I’ve long wanted to share this with you all, but couldn’t find the words—so I’m expressing it through this post today." However, the post was soon deleted, and then Tej Pratap Yadav stated that his account was hacked and the hacker had shared the edited picture on social media. 

Tej Pratap Yadav's clarification

After deleting the post, Tej Pratap took to his X handle and wrote, "(Translated version) My social media platforms have been hacked and my pictures are being wrongly edited to harass and defame me and my family members. I appeal to my well-wishers and followers to be cautious and not pay heed to any rumours..."

Tej Pratap may face jail time if the claims of his second wife turn out to be legitimate

The incident has triggered speculation and controversy, especially as Tej Pratap is currently involved in a divorce case with Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai. The two were married in May 2018. Dainik Bhaskar quoted Aishwarya's mother, Purnima Rai, who said, “We’ve seen the post. We knew about it. No comment beyond that. This has been public knowledge for some time.”

Senior Lawyer & True Scoop Editorial Advisor, Adv Mandeep Singh Sachdeva said that if at all the wife files a fresh criminal plea, and it gets proven in the court, then the convicted may face up to 3 years of imprisonment. 

Notably, marrying without a legal divorce is a violation of the Hindu Marriage Act, making it a punishable offense.
