A new controversy has emerged from the Golden Temple in Amritsar, as a video has surfaced showing a young girl being denied entry to the religious site for having the Indian flag painted on her face. The girl can be seen arguing with a 'sewadar' at the temple who tells her that she is in Punjab, not India, and becomes agitated when the girl uses the word 'bakwas' (meaning nonsense).

The incident has sparked a massive controversy in Punjab, with people questioning the extent of Khalistani sentiments in the state. Some have even accused the gurudwara administration of being infiltrated by Khalistanis.

In an attempt at damage control, the head of the SGPC has issued a statement stating that painting three colors without the chakra doesn't necessarily make it the Indian flag, and there was no intention to insult the Indian flag. He also highlighted the community's patriotism and sacrifices made in the fight for freedom. He ended by apologizing for any hurt sentiments, although he has not ruled out the possibility of this being a ruse to defame the Sikh community.
