With the onset of Coronavirus pandemic, online dating sites like tinder, Bumble, Hinge are in a race and competing against each other. As people are staying at home most of the time due to lockdown, dating sites are the app that people use most.

Location-based dating service major Tinder is going to let its users live video chat by as soon as the end of June, in a bid to take on rivals such as Hinge and Bumble, according to its parent company which posted its first quarter (Q1) earnings. However, the Match Group-owned dating major is a tad bit late to add this feature.

According to Match Group, since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, it has seen a noticeable increase in activity among users, especially those under the age of 30, across all of our brands and all geographies.

People are matching more frequently, sending more messages, and engaging in longer conversations. The average number of daily messages sent across all of its products in the month of April was 27 percent higher than during the last week of February, and for users under the age of 30, it was 35 percent higher.

"Tinder clearly remains a go-to app for meeting new people, which has become an even more critical service with so many people stuck at home, and Tinder plans to launch one-to-one live video late in Q2. Tinder’s product roadmap for the year largely remains on track, and we remain committed to developing and testing a number of new revenue features in 2020, though priorities could shift quickly depending on how the crisis continues to unfold," the company said in a statement.

"We also accelerated the rollout of one-to-many live streaming video on Plenty of Fish, allowing users to connect with, and form, virtual communities around live video. Adoption rates for live streaming at Plenty of Fish thus far have exceeded our expectations," Tinder's parent company added.
