Sania Mirza is an Indian professional tennis player. A former doubles world No. 1, she has won six Grand Slam titles in her career. Indian tennis star and former women's doubles world number one Sania Mirza is among just three Indian female atheletes to participate in four Olympic Games -- the first being former sprinter Shiny Wilson.

 

India's female tennis duo of Sania Mirza and Ankita Raina participated in Round 1 of Women's Doubles tennis at the Tokyo Olympics.
India has never made it past the first round in the Women's Doubles by winning a match, and today, they missed out on a big opportunity again as they lost the match
 to the Kichenok twins.

 

The Ukrainian team of Lyudmyla Viktorivna Kichenok and Nadiia Viktorivna Kichenok knocked out the Indian pair 6-0, 7-6, 10-8 in one hour and 33 minutes.

 

By playing today’s match, Sania represented India for the fourth time in the Olympics. Sania had also shared several pictures from the Olympic village in her Instagram Stories. And, in one of the snaps, she could be seen sharing the frame with Rio silver medallist PV Sindhu.

Earlier, on the day of Eid Sania shared a post on Instagram in which she mentioned that how much she was missing her family. Sania Mirza wrote, 'Eid Mubarak to all. This Eid is far away from family and home for me, but I wish everyone a very happy Eid and wish you lots of love with your loved ones. May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices.'
