The Jalandhar administration has completed preparations regarding traffic arrangements due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Jalandhar’s PAP ground today (May 24). As per reports, traffic will not be allowed to move through the PAP chowk from 2 PM on Friday. The routes from the city towards Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Chandigarh have been diverted by the police administration in light of the rally.
People going to Amritsar from Jalandhar will either have to take the old route via Vidhipur Gate and Maqsudan Bypass or can go to Amritsar Highway via Lamma Pind Chowk via Kishanpura Chowk. Similarly, people going to Ludhiana will have to take 66 Foot Road or Phagwara Highway from McDonald's inside Cantt and entry can also be done through this route. To reach Chandigarh, one can go from Subhanpur to Kala Sanghiya, Nakodar and then from Phagwara to Chandigarh Road. Entry into Jalandhar can also be taken from these points.
On the other hand, the police have put sign boards and barricades at the PAP chowk for the people so that they can be guided. There should be no problem in reaching the PAP ground. Apart from this, the police had placed barricades on Thursday itself at the points from where routes have been diverted. ADCP Traffic Amandeep Kaur appeals to the people to use only diverted routes on May 24 so that no unwarranted issue arises.
