Two Delhi hospitals will start administering the Russian Covid vaccine Sputnik V by the end of this week. 

“Delhi’s Madhukar Rainbow Children's Hospital will start administering Russia's COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V tentatively by June 20. The appointment slots can be booked via the Cowin portal”, a media agency reported.

Sputnik V would also likely be available at Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi by Saturday (19th June 2021). 

The exact number of doses to be provided is yet not clear and would be confirmed by the end of this week. 

As per the sources, on Sunday Sputnik V’s jabs were administered to the employees of Dr Reddy’s Lab at the Apollo hospital. Sources added that 1000 jabs reached at the Apollo hospital, out of which 170 doses were administered to the lab employees. 

The price of Sputnik V has been capped at Rs 1,145 per dose at the private hospital by the Government of India. After Covishield and Covaxin, Sputnik V is the third vaccination that has been approved by the Government of India for use in the country.

The price per dose of the Covishield vaccine is at Rs 780 and Covaxin is at Rs 1,410 at the private vaccination centres. 

Dr Reddy’s laboratories are the official marketing partner of Russian jab Sputnik V in India. Dr Reddy's lab has been importing the vaccine shots from Russia. It is expected that in the coming times, the vaccine shots would be produced in the country as well.
