Iqbal Singh Lalpura, former IPS officer and chairman of India's National Commission for Minorities, has penned a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging the inclusion of Jalandhar as a halt for the Vande Bharat train.

The ex-IPS officer highlighted Jalandhar's significance as a business center, renowned for its production of various goods. He emphasized the need for a stop of Vande Bharat train starting from New Delhi to Amritsar to stop at Jalandhar. This will help to promote trade and industry in the region.

The Vande Bharat Express route from Delhi to Amritsar, scheduled to begin on December 31, has caused disappointment among Jalandhar residents due to the absence of a stop in their city.
