In tragic news, a woman was violently struck by an SUV in Ludhiana, Punjab. The car struck the woman from behind while she was walking towards a gym to exercise at around 5:30 in the morning. The woman has been identified as Sweety Arora (33), resident of Hargobind Nagar. The XYLO car hit the woman so hard that she fell into the divider in the middle of the road. As per reports, the driver of the car stopped to check the woman's pulse, but fled the scene after calling the police.
The nephew of the woman who had come with her to the gym raised the alarm after seeing her soaked in blood. With the help of passerbys, he took his aunt to the hospital, but seeing her condition worsening, the family took her to Delhi. The woman, died on the way to Delhi.
As per reports, the driver stopped to check Sweety’s condition and called the police to inform them of the accident. The deceased’s nephew had also arrived and as a crowd started to gather, the driver asked the people to take Sweety to the hospital, saying he would arrive as well. But the driver then fled the scene. The police have taken the XYLO in custody.
Sweety's mother Shashikant has told the police of Police Station Division Number-3 that she is a resident of Hargobind Nagar. Sashikant's husband died of a heart attack 24 years ago. She has 2 sons and a daughter. Both her sons Sanjeev and Raj Kumar have died. Her daughter, Sweety, used to support the family by working in a mobile shop.
Shashikant told that Sweety had gone to a gym near Sufiyan Chowk with her nephew Nitin at 5.30 am on May 10. Nitin parked the scooter outside the gym. Sweety started walking on the road. Then a speeding XYLO car hit her from behind.
SHO Nardev Singh says that the name of the driver of the car has been found to be Ajmer Singh. The accused is a resident of Sultan Wind Road, Kotatma Ram, Amritsar. A case has been registered against the hit-and-run driver who is currently absconding.
