Wrestler Vinesh Phogat on Wednesday was hospitalised hours after being disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024. As per reports, Vinesh Phogat fainted and therefore rushed to hospital. It is said that Vinesh Phogat fainted and hositalisted due to dehydration. Currently, Phogat is in hospital undergoing treatment. Notably, two photos of Vinesh Phogat have been shared online in which the Indian wrestler can be seen dejected and in dismal condition health-wise. As per reports, Vinesh was continuously working out overnight to reduce her weight so that she could play the historic gold medal match at the Paris Olympics. Vinesh Phogat who reached the final defying all odds, was approximately 2 kilos overweight on Tuesday night. She didn’t sleep the whole night and did everything in her capacity to meet the criteria – from jogging to skipping and cycling.

What India is doing for Vinesh Phogat?

Reports suggest that PM Narendra Modi spoke to IOA President PT Usha and sought first-hand information from her on the issue and the options India has in the wake of Vinesh's setback. He asked PT Usha to explore the full range of options to help Vinesh’s case. He also urged PT Usha to file a strong protest regarding her disqualification if that helps Vinesh. 

Since it is highly unlikely that Vinesh Phogat's disqualification to be revoked, PM Modi took to his X handle and lauded the wrestler for her commendable efforts at the Paris Olympics. PM Modi wrote, "Vinesh, you are a champion among champions! You are India's pride and an inspiration for each and every Indian. Today's setback hurts. I wish words could express the sense of despair that I am experiencing. At the same time, I know that you epitomise resilience. It has always been your nature to take challenges head on. Come back stronger! We are all rooting for you."
