The Kalyani Nagar case has become the talking point of India and people have been closely following the case ever since Vishal Agarwal's minor son was granted bail in just 15 hours on some simple terms and conditions. On Sunday, a speeding Porsche car hit a bike in Pune's Kalyani Nagar killing two people including a woman. The Porsche was allegedly driven by a Pune-based builder's minor son under the influence of alcohol. Thereafter, the Porsche driver was beaten by the locals present there, and later an FIR was filed against him. However, in just 15 hours, Vishal Agarwal's minor son was granted bail and he was asked to write a 300-word essay on road accidents, do social service, and spread awareness on traffic rules along with the traffic Police. After the outrage, the Juvenile Justice Board sent Vishal Agarwal's minor son to an observatory home.
During the arguments, celebrity Advocate Prashant Patil informed the JJB that the teen was suffering from depression and that's why he got into a habit of drinking. The accused before the board mentioned that he wants to stay with his mother and would feel safe at home. He said he could further slip into depression if he is kept inside the remand home.
On the other hand, the Pune Police argued in favour of the remand of the 17-year-old accused in front of the Juvenile Justice Board on the grounds that he is not safe outside as people will possibly attack him and people are safe if he is inside.
'Vishal Agarwal's son bail was not cancelled' says Adv Prashant Patil
After the teenager was sent to the observatory home, Prashant Patil during his address to the media clarified that the accused's bail was not cancelled by the JJB. "I want to tell everyone. Trye to understand the concept. His bail has not been cancelled. Today his bail was not scrapped. Cancellation of bail means the earlier order has been set aside and the accused has been taken into custody. This is not a custody, this is a rehab home according to the juvenile justice act. This is just a modification of the order."
Patil also highlighted that Vishal Agarwal's son will be allowed to meet his one family member twice a week.
