Will Smith's son Jaden Smith made a shocking revelation about the involvement of psychedelic drugs into the Smith family. Psychedelic drugs are a specific type of hallucigenic drugs which are used to trigger hallucinations and drive the consumer into extraordinary mental states. Some of these drugs include mescaline, LSD, psilocybin, and DMT. The actor-singer revealed that it was his mother Jada Pinkett Smith who led the family into the usage of these drugs
"I think it was my mom, actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family," Jaden said of his introduction to the still-illegal class of drugs at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver on June 23. "It was just her for a really, really long time and then eventually it just trickled and evolved, and everybody found it in their own ways." He also felt that the drugs helped him build a stronger bond with his siblings Willow, 22 and Trey, 30 who is Jaden's half-brother from Will's past marriage with Sheree Zampino.
"Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past," Jaden explained. "But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that's profound and beautiful."

Jada previously shared that she began using psychedelics, particularly plant medicine, 10 years ago as a method to improve her mental health. On a November 2021 episode of her Red Table Talk series, the Girls Trip star talked about how the psychedelics "knocked" out her "crippling depression." "I struggled with depression for so long, I mean crippling depression," she said. "And the thing about the plant medicine is it helps you feel better but also solves the problems of how you got there in the first place." Jada said. About the claims her son made, the actress said “It all gets answered in the book", referrng to the her upcoming memoir, Worthy, which is scheduled to be released on October 17.
Psychedelic drugs are still illegal in the majority of the United States, with only Colorado and Oregon being excpetions. In Colorado, only magic mushrooms are legal for recreational use. The drugs are still not addictive and do not cause any physiological harm with many studies backing Jaden's own personal experiences of the drugs enabling its users to battle depression and other mental health issues.
