Meta Connect 2024: After the launch of Apple's new series iPhone 16, the attention of techies has now shifted to the much-awaited two-day event Meta Connect 2024. Meta Connect is an annual event in which Mark Zuckerberg unveils Facebook aka Meta's upcoming technologies including software & hardware. Last year, Zuckerberg unveiled Ray Ban smart glasses as well as Meta AI. As per the company's official website, Meta Connect 2024 is a two-day event featuring the technologies of the future that will take place on September 25 and September 26. During the Meta Connect event, the website states that industry leaders will share the latest innovations while builder sessions will go deeper into how to use and create with them.
Meta Connect 2024 Expected announcements
As per reports, techies have a plethora of expectations from Meta Connect 2024. It is expected that the Meta team will unveil he updated version of Meta Quest 3. For the unversed, Meta Quest is a virtual reality (VR) headset. It is also expected that the Meta might come up with an upgraded version of its Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses. A few months back Meta had collaborated with Ray-Ban to bring VR-supported sunglasses.
For the unversed, Mark Zuckerberg during the Meta Connect event 2023 announced the successor of 2021’s Ray-Ban Stories. Meaning, the luxurious sunglass brand Ray-Ban is collaborating with Meta to bring AI-integrated sunglasses for GenZ and people of all ages.
As per Zuckerberg, people wearing high-tech glasses can now livestream from the Spects to Facebook or Instagram, and use “Hey Meta” to engage with Meta AI- Facebook's advanced conversational assistant, just by using voice. For those who still do not understand what is Ray-Ban Meta smart glass, it lets you snap a photo or video clip from your unique point of view.
Coming back to Meta Connect 2024, a cheaper version ‘Quest 3S’ priced at $299.99, is expected to come. Earlier Meta had introduced its Quest 2 and Quest 3 VR headsets. The Quest 3 was a bit pricey in comparison to the Quest 2. The Quest 2 was priced at $200 and the Quest 3 started from $500. Some reports suggest that the ‘Orion’ augmented reality (AR) glasses can also make an entry. Furthermore, Meta may come up with a new Quest 4 lined up for 2026. Another pro-level VR headset can also come designed for spatial computing, named as “La Jolla,” for 2027.
