The attempted assassination on the United States of America's ex-president, Donald Trump has set the media alight, and dramatically shifted the political atmosphere in the US to a certain direction. The strong image of Trump raising his fist while chanting ‘Fight’, has been etched in the minds of voters, and is undoubtedly going to help the Republican’s campaign inmmensely. Such was visible during the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, where the party faithful roared as Lara Trump raised a fist and spoke about a gunman's attempt on Donald Trump’s life on September. It was also a moment that symbolised a change of guard in the Trump family that has taken place since his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. Therefore the question arises, who is Lara Trump? Who is Lara Trump?
Lara Trump is married to Donald Trump’s third son, Eric Trump. Lara is now the co-chair of the Republican Party, and was hand-picked by her father-in-law for that role as he runs for another White House term. Lara’s speech at the Convention was her introduction to the country in a big way because while she's had roles in campaigns previously and been a part of Trump's inner circle and family orbit for the last eight years, this is the first time she is positioned in a role that has real power inside the Republican Party. Long-time observers expect Lara Trump's prominence in the family to only grow.
Trump was a story coordinator and producer for the TV news magazine Inside Edition from 2012 to 2016. On March 29, 2021, she joined Fox News as a contributor. However, Fox News parted ways with Lara Trump in December 2022 because its policy is not to employ anyone running for office or involved with a candidate. It was then that her father in-law, had declared his re-election bid.
People have also been drawing parellels between the roles of Lara and Eric Trump, to that of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, during his tenure as President. Ivanka had been the vice-president of the Trump organisation right up until her father was made President. She and her husband Jared Kushner, had both then held positions as senior advisors in the White House following Trump’s election.
