Woman raped by auto driver, two associates when going to office in Ludhiana, all three arrested

In Ludhiana, the police commissionerate has arrested three individuals, including an autorickshaw driver, in connection with the gang rape of a 20-year-old woman. The incident occurred on December 19 when the woman boarded the auto to reach her workplace at approximately 6 am. Subsequently, the driver and his two associates, who were already inside the vehicle, diverted her to an isolated location where she was subjected to a harrowing gang rape, according to police sources. 

Following the assault, the perpetrators abandoned the victim at the scene and absconded with her mobile phone. Subsequently, the woman managed to reach the main road on foot and sought assistance from passersby to contact the authorities.

Jaskiranjit Singh Teja, the Deputy Commissioner of Police Rural, revealed that initially, the woman's parents were reluctant to lodge a complaint due to societal stigma. However, after counseling from the police and with the woman's desire to file a complaint, they were encouraged to come forward.
